Belle Beats the Scratching!

April 15, 2009 by Belle's Mom

Finally, the scratching and itching has stopped! I finally got Belle’s fleas under control, though this may have had something to do with the recent freezing temperatures we had for a couple of nights. I am continuing her new flea treatment, and weekly bath treatments. Her hair has grown back at the base of her tail and she is no longer constantly scratching herself. Thank goodness for small miracles.

I am also grateful that we did not have to start using Prednisone again. With a little vigilance on my part and the right allergy medicine and flea control, we were able to get Belle’s skin back in balance – getting rid of the hot spots and itchy patches.

I think this summer may be a challenge, just judging from the amount of trouble that I am having with fleas already. We will have to keep a close eye on Belle whenever she starts to scratch.
