Review of Flexi Comfort Grip Retractable Leash

Flexi Comfort 2 Retractable Leash

A good leash is a wonderful thing. While I use very short leashes when walking the dogs, I do use retractable leashes for taking them outside when they need bathroom breaks.

I’ve gone through several retractable leashes, and I think this one is great!

The dogs are about 35-40 pounds each, so this is the perfect strength and control for them. Larger (and stronger) dogs would require a heavier-weight leash. However, I believe this company makes many sizes.

Pros

  • Retraction mechanism isn’t too tight
  • Retracts easily and smoothly
  • Brake button is easy to push in and easy to release
  • Lightweight
  • Comfort grip part is a bit easier to hold on to
  • Thin leash keeps it from getting tangled up
  • Easy to dry if it gets wet

Cons

  • Won’t work for a stronger, bigger dog
  • Says it’s for dogs up to 44 pounds

Additional Notes

The retraction mechanism on different types of leashes works differently. I have found that of the leashes I have tried, I prefer the Flexi comfort grip. With other leashes, I feel a constant pull by the retraction mechanism, forcing me to apply more pressure to hold on to the leash. With this one, the retraction doesn’t pull, but retracts smoothly and easily when necessary.

We have also had a couple of leashes that we have left out in the rain. Since the leash was a thicker width, it took longer to dry, and as a result, ended up with a moldy smell. While I’m trying not to leave leashes outside in times of rain, this thinner leash dries a lot faster.

You must be careful with this leash and make sure your dogs don’t wrap it around your legs. Because it is a cord style, the cord can give you rope burns if wrapped around bare skin. This isn’t a problem with the design of the leash, just something you need to watch out for.

The size of the handle is also nice. I can easily control the dogs with one hand, rather than have to use two hands to hold it. The comfort grip is also helpful for those times that I have just put lotion on my hands and then have to take the dogs out. It helps keep it from slipping out of my hand.

I have a very strong flexi lead as I have a very strong Collie. It has been great for walks that I do not know the area are where hazards are. I have had the lead now for about 18 months. The retract is still very good the only thing is that the clip has got loose and I can no longer use the lead as it is unsafe and has come undone! I paid near on £30 and expected it to last a lot longer. How can I get the clip repaced as this is the only thing wrong with the lead. Can I send it back to get it repaired and whom to I send it to.

I recommend you contact the business that you purchased the leash from. They may have a good return policy or they can at least direct you as to how to get a replacement. You might also try contacting the Flexi customer support directly and see what they recommend: http://www.flexiusa.com/contact/contact.php
